The VOF service on Sunday, 5/31 at 10:30a will be broadcast using Facebook Live. You will be able to watch the service from your home or mobile device. What follows are instructions depending on your current situation with Facebook.
I DO NOT have a Facebook account and need to create one:
1. Go to www.facebook.com/r.php.
2. Enter your name, email or mobile phone number, password, date of birth, and gender. Click Sign Up.
3. To finish creating your account, you need to confirm your email or mobile phone number.
4. To confirm your mobile number, enter the code you get via text message (SMS) in the "Confirm" box that shows up when you log in to Facebook.
5. To confirm your email, click or tap the link in the email you got when you created the account.
I have a Facebook account and want to watch the service on Facebook:
1. Log into your Facebook account.
2. In the search bar type "vofpeople" (without quotation marks).
3. Select Village of Faith Church.
4. To receive notification when future Facebook Live events are about to begin, just click the "Follow" and "Like" buttons under the picture of the church.
5. When you click on "Follow" a dropdown will appear. Make sure there is a checkmark in the Notifications section, next to "On".
6. Now you will receive a notification in your Facebook newsfeed every time VOF begins a Live event. The notification should include a link you can click to begin watching.
From Pastor Ron:
Yesterday morning, your Church Leadership met via Zoom to again pray and discuss how best to take care of you, the Church family, for the next couple weeks. While the decision was unanimous to suspend services at least through Easter Sunday, we all realize the gravity of the medical pandemic going on all around us, and that we will most likely be suspending services a bit longer. This will be the first time in my entire life I haven’t attended worship with the Bride on Resurrection Sunday! But, for now, plans are to suspend all Church-related activities with exception of the Sunday morning Facebook Live worship services at 10:30 a.m. and the How To Worship A King Studies on Tuesday evenings via Zoom. We will continue our Tuesday and Thursday devotions weekly as long as the Virus is a threat. Our Florida Governor, just today, issued a “Stay Home” rule for us all. So, let’s abide by that as well and cease all outside and extracurricular activities that aren’t necessary.
The Church Leadership will meet again on Tuesday morning, April 14 to decide our next steps. Please continue to pray Psalm 91 over your family and the church family daily and plead the blood of Jesus as your covering. We love you much and so look forward to the time the pandemic ends and again, we can worship together. May our Lord bless you and keep you and protect you all until then.
In a meeting of the church Staff, Elders, and Admin Team this morning, we have made the decision to suspend ALL (services, Bible studies, golf, prayer groups, luncheons, EVERYTHING) on our campus, or at other venues, at least until March 31. We will meet again that Tuesday to determine what needs to be done from that point. We will be streaming two events each week.
We will be using Facebook LIVE this coming Sunday to stream an online service at the 10:30a time slot (we will not be streaming at 9:00a). HOW TO WORSHIP A KING will continue to meet using the Zoom online option each Tuesday night, as did happen this past Tuesday.
We do our best to not email you any more than necessary. However, until this virus passes, you will be receiving more emails, and some may be longer in length than what is usual. Please pardon us for that, but we will be sending you instructions on how to do various things that will keep us engaged with one another and together with Christ. These things include, but are not limited to: creating a Facebook account, lyric sheets to print so that you can sing songs at home, options for worship through giving tithes and offerings (and not all are online), etc.
The bottom line is this: WE ARE STILL HAVING CHURCH! It may look a little different, it may not be in the manner we would prefer, but we will carry on. Please join us at 10:30a Sunday. You don’t have to keep your Facebook account when this is over (Ha!). Just create one for the time being, then delete after it’s not needed.
We will stay in touch. More information will follow this email soon. Stay tuned!
VOF Pastors, Elders, and Admin Team
Your church leadership (Staff, Elders, and Admin Team) met this morning to assess the best response for VOF in response to the latest updates from our government officials concerning the COVID-19 virus. Our faith is at the core of who we are (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.) and the channel through which we access the grace of God that brings our salvation (Ephesians 2:8 NIV - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith---and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God---). So we have a sincere desire to keep our faith at the forefront without being irresponsible in our testimony to those in our community who may be looking to see how we exhibit the command to love others from our Lord. So what does that look like?
We feel that the combination of these two frames of reference dictates that we suspend all church activities until Sunday (men’s prayer groups, music rehearsals, Wednesday Bible study & Prayer Service, golf, etc) in order to be in line with the Presidential and CDC recommendation to not be in groups more than 10.
Right now, Pastor Kevin is looking at an online option for tonight’s HOW TO WORSHIP A KING study. Until final determination is made, however, even this study’s ability to meet via technology remains in question, and will be conclusively determined later today.
So what about Sunday? We have not yet made that determination. The news and guidelines change every few hours. Your leadership will meet again on Thursday morning and see where things stand at that time. We will use email, our church website at vofpeople.com, and our church social media to get the word out when further decisions are made.
What should you do? First, make sure that your email address is up-to-date with our church email systems. If you are currently receiving emails of some sort from us (the full color versions with the church logo at the top), your address is up-to-date and you’re good to go. If you’re only receiving emails that come from your Pastoral Care Group leaders or other church ministry teams that are not full color with the logo or you are reading this from one of our social media outlets, you should guarantee that we have your correct address. To do that, please send your name(s), email address, and phone number (cell preferred) to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put “CONTACT INFO UPDATE” in the subject line so that we know to give it priority.
We have a few of our members who do not have a computer or email. If you know of someone in that situation, reach out to them and offer to be their source of information via a phone call. If possible, maybe have them in your home to view any streaming events we may have in the near future until we get past this virus.
Second, subscribe to our church social media. You can find us on three. From a web browser, go to the following URL’s (web addresses):
If within any of these apps on a phone or tablet, just search for “vofpeople” using the app’s search field. LIKE us on Facebook, or FOLLOW us on Twitter and Instagram. The latter two are limited in how much information we can post. That’s why we are prioritizing Facebook.
Third, watch our church website (vofpeople.com) for updates. Especially check here if you’re not seeing email communication and no way to see social media.
Pastor Kevin is looking at various options for streaming a service in case we need to stream this weekend. We will be in touch with information you may need to be able to view that medium when a decision is reached, and should it be necessary. For now, the best current option is to do it via Facebook Live. If that is the path we choose, it will require a Facebook account having already been created, and you having already LIKED our church Facebook page. Please do that as soon as possible rather than waiting. Assistance cannot be given last minute.
Our prayers are with you. Please stay safe. Pray Psalm 91 over you, your household, and family. And should you need us, we are still here. Here are our email addresses:
Pastor Ron: email@example.com
Pastor Kevin: firstname.lastname@example.org
Diana Chadwell (email help): email@example.com
Michelle Pledger (Lavatera): firstname.lastname@example.org
Beth Sidel (prayer): email@example.com
Your Pastoral Care Group Leaders should be your FIRST CALL/EMAIL with ministry needs, sicknesses, etc. Their email addresses should be in your email from them having contacted you. If you are missing their email address, and you are a registered member of VOF so that you have been provided a PCG Leader, email Pastor Kevin at the address above with your name, and ask who your PCG Leader is and how to reach them.
That’s all for now. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
